Description

Planetration is mix of different game genres including drilling , defense, and shoot’em ups. After the destruction of your home planet, you must find a new place to call home. Your task is to travel through the solar system, fight off the natives, and drill to the cores of planets to fuel your space ship as you make your way to unknown destinations!

This game was created for Ludum Dare 21 where it placed 9th overall in the Jam division. The theme of the jam was: “Escape”.

Ludum Dare 21 was the first Ludum Dare competition that I ever participated in. My team consisted of 3 close friends and myself.  We decided to try something that was totally different and fairly ambitious. We started out prototyping different game mechanics and in the end decided to combine them into one game. The game turned out pretty well and we did lot better on the competition than we expected. Each planet features a procedurally generated drilling component.
